Welcome to District 19 of The American Legion, Department of Pennsylvania — home to 32 Posts serving Cumberland, Dauphin, and Lebanon Counties. With roots stretching back to the founding of The American Legion in 1919, our District is rich in tradition, service, and military heritage.
Who We Are
District 19 is made up of Posts in towns and communities that have long supported our nation’s defense. From small rural Posts to larger urban and suburban ones, our Legion Family has included veterans and their families from WWI to the present, including service members stationed at or connected with past and current bases throughout our region. We carry forward their legacy through service, patriotism, and community engagement.
What We Do
-
We support veterans, their families, and surviving dependents through advocacy, assistance, and outreach.
-
We sponsor youth programs, scholarships, and civic ceremonies that unite our three counties in remembrance and purpose.
-
We organize community events, memorial services, holiday ceremonies, and public engagement that strengthen awareness of The Legion’s Four Pillars: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth.
Why It Matters
Cumberland, Dauphin, and Lebanon Counties have deep military ties — from training installations to community support networks. Our Posts carry those ties forward. We are committed to ensuring every veteran and their family are seen, supported, and honored, while also building future leaders who understand the cost of freedom and the duty of citizenship.
